BOOBAS COMPLETED STARTUP ONRAMP THROUGH GC INNOVATION HUB

Boob Accessory Solutions (BOOBAS) founder, Michelle Silipo, was unsure where to start after producing plastic samples of her BOOB Bra Strap Converter Clips on her 3D printer. She knew she’d created an innovative product that would revolutionise women’s fashion choices...she also knew she needed to tap into the right skills and expertise to help bring her product to market. 

After presenting the BOOB Clip at her Nerang Toastmasters Club one evening, Michelle was introduced to Sharon Hunneybell and the team at Gold Coast Innovation Hub. This was a timely introduction because a group facilitated through the GC Hub was commencing the Startup Onramp Founders Course the following week. The course was for people like Michelle who had a business idea and were looking to validate and launch their new business. 

The course ran for 10 weeks starting from the 2nd of April and was delivered under a hybrid model. Each week participants completed the online training material from Colin Kinner covering 14 modules and each Friday morning Sharon Hunneybell ran a facilitated zoom session with all participants to provide interaction and feedback on projects with other founders and mentors. 

The Advance Queensland initiative run by the Queensland Government granted Michelle a fully funded place in the 10-week on-line Founders Course, which covered a range of startup business principles and planning, intellectual property and finance, and sales and marketing strategies, tailored to entrepreneurial success and sustainability. 

Upon completion of the course, Michelle was able to access the Partner Perks comprising discount offers from AWS, Hubspot, LawPath and Fullstack Advisory which has been a massive support for her startup journey. 

Michelle has since joined the Gold Coast Innovation Hub as a community member, attending inspiring and educational events such as Fireside Chats between Sharon Hunneybell and investor and entrepreneur Steve Baxter, and the popular Brunch Like a Boss where two female business owners share their business foundation stories over brunch. 

During the first Brunch Like a Boss Michelle attended, she met Katie Bond, the owner of VMA Promo Products. When it comes to giving back to community, Michelle was Inspired by her friend Vanessa’s breast cancer journey to help breast cancer patients. Boob Accessory Solutions are donating 50c from every 2pk of the BOOB Bra Strap Converter Clips sold to The McGrath Foundation to fund the work of the incredible McGrath Breast Care Nurses who support individuals and their families experiencing breast cancer. Fundraising commenced 01/08/21.
